Young Woman who was Rushed Hospital After Going Labor Learns Bizarre Truth

A 22-year-old woman from suburban Ohio thought she was about to deliver a baby when severe cramps hit late one night. She called an ambulance and arrived at the emergency room expecting the usual rush of monitors and nurses preparing for birth. Instead, tests quickly showed there was no pregnancy at all.

Doctors found a large ovarian cyst that had twisted and was pressing against her organs, creating pain that felt exactly like contractions. The young woman had missed periods for months and gained weight, so she assumed she was carrying a child after a brief relationship. Friends even threw her a small baby shower the week before.

The cyst measured nearly nine inches across and had caused internal bleeding. Surgeons removed it the next day in a two-hour procedure. Hospital staff later said the symptoms were convincing enough that they prepared the delivery room anyway before the ultrasound results came back.

Her mother told reporters the family was stunned by how far the misunderstanding had gone. The woman herself said she felt relief mixed with embarrassment once the truth sank in. She had no prior history of cysts, though doctors noted such growths can sometimes produce pregnancy-like hormones.

Cases like this remain rare but not unheard of, especially when women skip regular checkups. The patient recovered without complications and was discharged after four days.
