A New Photo of John Goodman Has Fans Saying ‘Is That Really Him?’
John Goodman is giving fans another look at his dramatic physical transformation, years after the beloved actor opened up about the lifestyle changes that helped him lose a reported 200 pounds.
Goodman, best known for his roles in “Roseanne,” “The Big Lebowski” and “Monsters, Inc.,” recently appeared noticeably slimmer in a new social media photo with fellow actor David DeLuise.

DeLuise shared the snapshot on Instagram on Aug. 6, showing the two stars standing together in a grocery store aisle. Goodman appeared relaxed and smiled for the camera while wearing a denim button-down shirt.
The post provoked DeLuise to reflect on meeting the actor, describing Goodman as a childhood favorite and a “Legend!”
Although Goodman has largely maintained a lower profile in recent years, his career has spanned decades. He became a household name during the 1980s after taking on the role of Dan Conner, the husband of Roseanne Barr’s character on the hit sitcom “Roseanne.”
His film career later included memorable appearances in “The Flintstones,” released in 1994, and the cult favorite “The Big Lebowski,” which hit theaters in 1998.

Behind the scenes, Goodman was also confronting serious personal challenges. He began focusing more intensely on sobriety in 2007 and eventually spoke openly about his struggles with alcohol and food.
In a 2016 interview with ABC News, Goodman described his approach to addiction as an attempt to address a deeper emotional void rather than simply trying to eliminate one particular behavior.
The actor later explained that food had become part of the same destructive cycle he had experienced with alcohol. He acknowledged that his previous attempts to lose weight often ended with him returning to old habits.

Goodman confirmed in 2023 that he had lost approximately 200 pounds, a major change that has remained one of the most noticeable aspects of his later years in the public eye.
Rather than relying on short-term dieting, Goodman has said that changing how frequently and how much he ate was central to maintaining his progress. He also described becoming more active as he got older.
The actor has previously acknowledged that his appearance had become a source of concern for him, saying he reached a point where he no longer wanted to ignore what he saw in the mirror.
Goodman’s transformation has since become part of his broader story of recovery and lifestyle change. While he has kept much of his personal life private, his candid comments over the years have given fans insight into the challenges behind his weight loss.
Now, the latest photo suggests that the actor continues to maintain the healthier lifestyle that helped produce his dramatic transformation.
