Mom Reviews Nanny Cam Footage Immediately Calls Police

A mother in suburban Ohio came home from work on February 5 and decided to check the footage from the nanny cam she had set up a few weeks earlier. What started as a routine look at the day’s recordings quickly turned into something else entirely. Within minutes she was on the phone with police.

The video showed the 24-year-old babysitter, hired only a month before, grabbing the woman’s 11-month-old daughter by the arm and yanking her across the floor. At another point the caregiver appeared to shake the child while she cried. The mother later told officers she watched the clip twice to make sure she was seeing it right before she hung up and dialed 911.

Police arrived at the home in Worthington and took the babysitter into custody on the spot. She was charged with child endangerment and taken to the Franklin County jail. Detectives said they recovered the camera’s memory card as evidence and planned to review additional footage for any other incidents.

Neighbors on the quiet street expressed surprise when they heard what had happened. The mother had mentioned to a few of them that she felt lucky to have found someone so quickly after her regular sitter moved away. The accused caregiver had no prior criminal record in Ohio, according to court filings.

The child was examined at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and released the same night with no visible injuries. The mother declined to comment further, telling reporters she simply wanted to focus on her daughter.
