Police arrested a 42-year-old man on August 21 after officers executing a search warrant at his home found a video file showing his 10-year-old son with the family’s dog. The discovery came during an unrelated investigation into possible drug activity at the residence in a quiet suburban neighborhood. Detectives said the footage was stored on a laptop in plain view once they began checking electronics in the house.

The man was booked on charges that include production of child pornography and animal cruelty. Court records indicate he has no prior arrests, but investigators noted the video appeared to have been recorded recently. Neighbors described the family as fairly private, with the father often seen walking the dog in the evenings while the boy played in the yard. Several said they were stunned when squad cars arrived and stayed for hours.

Prosecutors are still reviewing the material and have not released additional details about how the video surfaced or whether other files were found. The child was placed with relatives, and animal control took the dog into protective custody. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for early next month.

Local authorities emphasized that cases involving both children and animals often require extra coordination between agencies. One detective involved in the search told reporters the find was unexpected and left the team shaken. The man’s attorney declined to comment on the allegations so far.
