Write for Us
New York, March 2, 2015 – Back in early March, AmericaNews.com shook things up a bit by rolling out a fresh invitation for everyday folks to pitch in and write for the site. Tucked into our “Write for Us” page, this move aimed to pull in new voices from across the country, especially those with stories to tell about society and culture. It felt like a smart way to mix things up, giving regular people a chance to share their takes on everything from community issues to daily life quirks.
The page laid out a simple call: If you had something to say about society, we wanted to hear it. Submissions poured in from bloggers, students, and even retirees who figured their experiences could add some real flavor to our coverage. Topics ranged from urban challenges in big cities to rural traditions that were fading fast. One submission I remember reading talked about the struggles of small-town America, and it hit home because it captured that raw, unfiltered perspective we often miss in polished reports.
Of course, not everyone jumped at the chance right away. Some worried about getting rejected or not meeting our standards, but the response was mostly positive, with a buzz building on social media. It was interesting to see how this opened doors for diverse viewpoints, like those from underrepresented groups who don’t always get a spotlight. As a writer here, I appreciated the energy it brought; it made the newsroom feel less like an echo chamber and more like a conversation.
By the end of that week, we had lined up a handful of guest pieces that went live, and readers ate it up. Looking back, it was a reminder of how sites like ours can evolve with a little outside help. While it didn’t change the world overnight, it certainly added some depth to our society section and kept things lively for months afterward.
