Fans of Wheel of Fortune are in for a major surprise this week as the long-running game show rolls out a high-stakes tournament featuring an eye-popping grand prize — a luxury sports car personally donated by comedy legend Jay Leno.

The competition is set to bring back the week’s five highest-earning contestants for a special showdown airing Friday, May 15. Following the final Bonus Round, one lucky winner will walk away with a sleek Corvette reportedly valued at around $70,000.

The announcement instantly generated excitement among longtime viewers, especially after Monday night’s episode delivered a dramatic game packed with fast solves, close scores and a massive Bonus Round payday.

The May 11 episode featured contestant Petal Reddick of Ashburn, an attorney who shared that she has been practicing law for more than a decade. Reddick joked during introductions that although her husband’s name is Ryan, he is definitely not host Ryan Seacrest. She also mentioned the couple shares two children.

Reddick faced off against Tammy Krzyzewski from Wilmington and Armando Gonzalez of Winter Haven.

The opening rounds quickly turned competitive. Reddick successfully solved the phrase “The Whole Kit and Caboodle,” putting early money on the board and tying with Krzyzewski. But Gonzalez soon surged ahead after solving a “Before & After” puzzle that combined “Periodic Table” with “Table for Two.”

That correct answer launched Gonzalez into the lead with more than $5,000 in winnings.

Momentum continued building for the Florida contestant when he cracked another puzzle, “My Face Turned Beet Red,” while also earning a vacation package to Jamaica. By that point, his total had climbed to nearly $19,000.

Still, Reddick refused to back down.

During the Triple Toss-Up round, she correctly solved two puzzles in quick succession and nearly grabbed a third before buzzing in too early with an incorrect answer. Gonzalez capitalized on the opening and secured the remaining puzzle himself.

In the final puzzle of the main game, Reddick managed to solve “Deep Pockets,” bringing her closing total to $11,700.

Krzyzewski finished with $2,000, while Gonzalez emerged as the night’s overall champion with an impressive $20,854 and a trip to the Bonus Round.

For his final category, Gonzalez selected “People.”

After the standard letters R, S, T, L, N and E were revealed, he added M, P, C and A to complete the puzzle board. The clue appeared as “CAPT_ E A _ _ENCE.”

Before the countdown clock even had a chance to begin ticking, Gonzalez confidently answered: “Captive Audience.”

The instant solve stunned the crowd.

Seacrest immediately confirmed the response was correct, sending the audience into cheers as Gonzalez secured an additional $55,000.

That victory pushed his grand total to a staggering $75,854 in a single night — and now puts him in contention for the special Corvette giveaway later this week.

With a luxury sports car still up for grabs and several strong contestants expected to return, fans are already calling this one of the most exciting tournament weeks the show has delivered in years.
