Jill Biden Shares Sad Update On Joe Biden’s Cancer Battle On ‘The View’
Former First Lady Jill Biden is opening up about one of the most difficult chapters her family has faced, offering a candid update on former President Joe Biden’s battle with advanced prostate cancer during a recent television appearance.
Speaking on ABC’s “The View” while promoting her new memoir, *View From the East Wing*, Jill Biden addressed questions about her husband’s health and revealed that, despite the seriousness of his diagnosis, the former president remains active and determined to maintain his routine.

According to Jill, Joe Biden continues to stay engaged with public life even as he undergoes treatment. She noted that he still travels regularly, participates in political events, works on writing projects and remains committed to causes he cares about.
While acknowledging the challenges that come with a Stage 4 cancer diagnosis that has spread to the bones, she said the family is focused on moving forward and taking things one day at a time.
The former first lady also discussed the circumstances surrounding the diagnosis, explaining that Biden had consistently received routine medical evaluations throughout his presidency and afterward. She said doctors followed established screening recommendations, which generally do not call for routine prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing in older men beyond a certain age.

Using the moment as an opportunity to raise awareness, Jill encouraged Americans—particularly men—to pay closer attention to their health and seek medical care when something feels wrong.
The conversation later turned to one of the most scrutinized moments of Joe Biden’s political career: his widely criticized debate performance against President Donald Trump during the 2024 campaign.
Jill Biden recalled being alarmed as she watched the event unfold, saying she initially feared a serious medical emergency might be taking place on stage. However, she said physicians evaluated him immediately afterward and assured the family that he was not experiencing a stroke or another acute health crisis.

Despite receiving reassurance from medical professionals, she admitted that she still does not have a clear explanation for what caused that unusually difficult performance.
The discussion eventually shifted to whether Joe Biden would have been capable of serving another four-year term had he remained in the race and won reelection.
Reflecting on what she knows today, Jill suggested that the cancer diagnosis dramatically changed the family’s outlook. She described the news as deeply unexpected, explaining that she and her husband had been looking forward to retirement plans and future travel before learning about his condition.

The diagnosis, she said, forced them to reevaluate those expectations almost overnight.
For now, Jill Biden emphasized that her husband remains focused on staying active and engaged while facing the health battle ahead. Though the road has been difficult, she portrayed the former president as continuing to approach each day with the determination and resilience that have defined much of his public life.
