Newly released court evidence is shedding fresh light on the deadly confrontation that left a Texas high school athlete dead and ultimately led to a murder conviction.

Authorities this week made public a collection of videos, photographs and investigative materials tied to the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf during a high school track meet in Frisco, Texas. The release comes less than two weeks after a jury found 19-year-old Karmelo Anthony guilty of murder.

Among the newly disclosed evidence is video footage capturing the chaotic moments immediately after the altercation unfolded.

In one recording, a crowd can be seen gathered beneath a tent near the event area. Moments later, a disturbance appears to erupt. A figure identified as Anthony is then seen emerging from the area before quickly moving down a set of bleachers and away from the scene.

The footage has generated widespread attention online as viewers examine the sequence of events surrounding the deadly encounter.

Additional video released by the court shows Anthony after law enforcement officers detained him. In the recording, an officer refers to him as the suspected attacker.

Anthony immediately responds, saying, “I’m not alleged. I did it.”

Another clip captures an emotional exchange as officers escort him away. During the encounter, Anthony repeatedly claims he was reacting to physical contact initiated by Metcalf.

“He put his hands on me. I told him not to,” Anthony is heard saying to officers.

He also maintained that his actions were taken in self-defense.

The materials released by the court include a broad range of evidence that jurors reviewed during the trial. Investigators made available crime scene photographs, body-camera footage from responding officers, emergency 911 recordings and images documenting physical evidence collected after the incident.

Some of the evidence contains graphic content, including photographs of injuries sustained during the attack, blood-stained clothing and the knife prosecutors identified as the weapon used in the killing.

The case centered on a confrontation that occurred during a weather delay at a high school track and field event in April 2025.

During the trial, prosecutors argued that Anthony escalated the dispute and unlawfully stabbed Metcalf, leading to the teenager’s death. The defense offered a different account, contending that Anthony feared he was in danger and reacted in an effort to protect himself.

Jurors ultimately sided with the prosecution’s argument, convicting Anthony of murder after reviewing testimony, video evidence and witness accounts presented throughout the proceedings.
