“Wheel of Fortune” viewers were once again left groaning from their couches as another contestant came heartbreakingly close to a massive Bonus Round payday — only to watch it slip away in the final seconds.

The long-running game show is currently airing a special vacation wedge series, giving players the chance to walk away with exotic international trips on top of cash prizes. But instead of celebrating big wins, fans say the episodes are starting to feel like a weekly lesson in disappointment.

The latest frustration unfolded during a recent episode featuring contestant Shibby, who delivered an impressive performance throughout the night — until the pressure-packed Bonus Round brought everything to a halt.

From the opening moments, Shibby proved she came ready to play.

She kicked things off by correctly solving the first Toss-Up puzzle in the “Thing” category, nailing “Inspirational Quote” and immediately adding $1,000 to her total.

Moments later, she stayed hot by buzzing in on the second Toss-Up under the “Happy Hour” theme. Her correct response — “Grilled Shrimp” — earned another $2,000 and kept her momentum rolling.

The confidence continued into Round 2, where contestants were challenged with a crossword-style puzzle tied to the clue “Say Cheese.” Shibby pieced together a lineup of cheeses — Brie, Blue, Feta and Provolone — securing $4,400 and widening her lead.

Her biggest triumph came during the Prize Puzzle round.

With the category “What Are You Doing?” Shibby confidently solved “Screaming At The Top Of My Lungs,” locking in a breathtaking Mediterranean coastal vacation. The luxury Colette tour spans Spain, France and Italy and carried a value of nearly $14,000 — drawing cheers from the audience.

She wasn’t finished yet.

During the Triple Toss-Up segment, themed “FYI,” each correct answer was worth $2,000. Shibby successfully solved two of the three, identifying “Most Valuable Player” and “Laughing Out Loud,” adding another $4,000 to her growing total.

By the end of the main game, she stood tall with $28,098 in cash and a European getaway — an outstanding showing by any standard.

But as fans have learned all too well, the Bonus Round is where fortunes can change in seconds.

Standing alone without family or friends at her side — leaving host Ryan Seacrest without his usual lighthearted introductions — Shibby selected the category “Food and Drink.”

After receiving the standard letters R, S, T, L, N and E, she chose M, D and K as her remaining consonants, along with the vowel A.

As the puzzle board filled in, uncertainty quickly crept in.

With the clock ticking down, Shibby stumbled through guesses, briefly circling around words like “fried” before realizing something wasn’t lining up. Time expired before she could piece it together.

The correct answer: “Cubed Honeydew.”

When Seacrest revealed the solution, the loss hit hard.

The missed puzzle meant Shibby walked away without the $45,000 cash prize — and without an additional luxury vacation to Finland that had been waiting behind the envelope.

While she still left with nearly $30,000 and a stunning Mediterranean trip, fans online were anything but satisfied.

Social media quickly filled with complaints, with viewers arguing the puzzle was overly obscure and nearly impossible without the perfect letters.

One fan admitted they were convinced the first word was something entirely different, saying the phrasing completely derailed their thinking.

Another posted bluntly: “$45,000 and Finland gone again — we need a winner already.”

Others accused the show of repeating what they called “budget puzzles,” claiming the Bonus Round difficulty has reached unfair levels.

As the losing streak continues, “Wheel of Fortune” loyalists are now hoping the next spin finally delivers the big win they’ve been waiting for — before frustration overshadows the fun.
